Chaitanya Library Renovation

Project Brief

Chaitanya Library, established in 1889 by Rabindranath Tagore and others, is a historic cultural hub in Kolkata. Known for its rich collection of over a lakh books, including rare ones, it has hosted prominent intellectuals and served as a center for literary and cultural activities. However, the librarys building and collection are in urgent need of restoration. Without government or private support, the library plans to revitalize itself through restoration, digitization, and community-focused initiatives like free classes for local children. The library seeks public help to preserve and rejuvenate this valuable part of Kolkata’s heritage. ASAUDP is involved in transforming the existing interior spaces through design inputs and curving out new interior spaces as per requirements. The firm is also involved in an advisory role in beautify the facades and Ground development.
