The Dept. of Architecture & Regional Planning at IIT Kharagpur collaborated with the School of Architecture and Planning, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA for a course to study urbanization in the currently developing world where it is no longer limited to the precincts of what is administratively defined as “cities.” The practicum was organized at Shantiniketan, Bolpur, West Bengal.
Ar. Ayan Sen was a part of the advisory panel where he guided the discussions at the site to develop Shantiniketan.
The course started from October 2016. A joint report was produced between MIT and IIT; the final presentation was made at MIT as a 2 daylong colloquium in April 2017.
