ETH-Studio Basel had a collaboration with Dept. of Architecture at Jadavpur University, during October 2008. All students visited Kolkata for a two-week fieldwork phase. In Kolkata, students had to conduct the research, also joined with local partners and students. Emphasis was laid on the cooperation of Dept. of Architecture at Jadavpur University, local NGOs and with the Center for Development and Environment Policy at the Indian Institute of Management, Joka amongst others.
Ar. Ayan Sen was one of the advisory faculty here in Kolkata and he also traveled to Basel for a mid-term jury.
The results of the fieldwork in Kolkata and the further
project development used architectural portraits, urban biographies, as well as employing standard techniques such as maps and diagrams, whilst also sketching scenarios for a future of the city.
